A Reverb Reflection from CherryCoBiz

There’s building your dream—and then there’s burning down your foundation before you’ve poured the concrete.
I run CherryCoBiz, and while I don’t pull millions of views, I do have a modest, meaningful audience that I value deeply. At different times over the last couple of years, I’ve had the flexibility to pour my energy fully into this platform. But like many of you, I currently work an 8 to 5. I’m vested in the “matrix,” as some would call it—even if my current role doesn’t utilize even half the skills I have to offer.
Still, I’m grateful. I build my legacy when I clock out. I chase meaning around the 40-hour grind, not in spite of it.
That’s part of why this story struck such a chord.
In Xenoshot’s video, we follow the strange spiral of Hub’s Life, a TikTok creator who built a massive following by documenting his day-to-day routine at a Fortune 500 job. His videos were quiet, steady, and somehow deeply comforting to working-class viewers. They weren’t flashy—but they felt real. Getting up. Getting ready. Leaving for work. Coming home. Making dinner. Existing. It resonated because we saw ourselves in him.
And then… he quit.
He walked away from a six-figure job to pursue content creation full-time—but forgot to bring any real content with him.
His relatability was tied to his role in the grind. That was the point. The rhythm of the job, the mundanity of it, the subtle commentary it offered on modern life. But once that anchor was gone, so was the connection. All that was left was a 9-to-5 personality trying to make a living by asking strangers to “send a Galaxy” (a $20 TikTok donation) just to answer a basic question.
It’s easy to clown on that. And a lot of people are. But let’s pause.
Because this story isn’t just about him.
? Book Smart, Life Blinded
There’s a moment in Xenoshot’s video that really made me pause:
“You’re married, making six figures at a Fortune 500 company. You’re a dad. Probably has a mortgage… I don’t know if banking on social media and TikTok content creation is the smartest choice.”
It really is baffling. Here’s a man with what seems like a solid education. A good job. A family. Stability. On paper? He won. And yet, it’s almost like none of that mattered when it came time to make a life decision.
Because here’s the thing:
Being considered smart and being wise are two very different things.
You can have degrees. You can make six figures. But if you lack common sense or emotional grounding, you can still make some wildly shortsighted choices.
And that’s what this felt like—someone with credentials, but no compass. He wasn’t building from a place of intention. He was reacting. To fame. To fantasy. To the idea that “just quitting” was the path to freedom.
But it’s not. It never is.
? Be Grateful for a Rose
And another thing…
Watching him shrug off small gifts—like someone sending a digital rose—was rough, especially knowing he left a six-figure job and now spends livestreams begging people to “send a Galaxy.” (Which again, by the way, is worth about $20.)
That’s not a sustainable plan. That’s not paying the mortgage.
But more than that—it’s the attitude.
You can’t demand generosity and ignore grace.
Be grateful for a rose. Not everyone has a Galaxy to give—but sometimes, the smallest gifts carry the deepest sincerity.
There’s something deeply out of alignment when you go from being relatable to being entitled. It’s a shift that doesn’t just break your content—it breaks the connection.
???? “I’m Just a Regular Chill Dude”
At one point in the stream, he says,
“I’m just a regular chill dude.”
And honestly?
Exactly. That’s the whole lesson.
You’re an everyday person—like the rest of us. And that’s not a dig. That’s real.
Most of us don’t have viral charisma or high-profile connections. We build slowly. We earn steadily. And there’s dignity in that.
But when you mistake being seen online for being set in real life, you’re standing on shaky ground.
The truth is, relatability can be powerful—but only when it’s paired with purpose.
He wasn’t an entertainer or a visionary. He was a reflection of the working world. And when the reflection disappeared, the audience went with it.
? What Happens When You Quit the Very Thing That Made You?
Hub’s Life was on the cusp of being an actual influencer. Not because he was flashy or charismatic, but because he normalized the “boring” reality of work. And there’s power in that. There’s something beautiful in embracing your place in the world while slowly building something greater.
But instead of growing from that space—developing commentary, storytelling, maybe even offering encouragement to fellow workers—he ditched the part people related to and left… nothing.
He brought no new perspective, no humor, no spark. Just a loop of livestreams asking for tips—like a digital street performer who forgot their act.
? The Bigger Lesson: Be Careful What You Wish For
I wasn’t raised to chase the spotlight. I was raised to be careful what you wish for—and to value what you already have. Because some things, once you leave them behind, you don’t always get back.
This isn’t about making fun of Hub’s Life. He’s not evil or even a villain in his own story. But his choices? They’re teaching tools for all of us—about ambition without vision, about trading steady roots for shaky reach.
And this lesson?
It applies far beyond just jobs or content creation.
It’s about marriages. Friendships. Homes. Goals.
We’ve all had moments where we wondered: What if I just walked away? What if I started over?
But the truth is, sometimes staying—showing up, being consistent, pouring into what’s already working—is where the real growth lives.
True success doesn’t always come from walking away.
Sometimes, it comes from digging in—and building something real where you already stand.
?? What do you think?
Have you ever considered quitting your job to chase a dream? Do you think you’d handle it differently? What’s something in your life that taught you the value of staying?
Feel free to share your thoughts below. And if this reflection sparked anything for you—thank you for being here. Every rose counts.
