Looking Through the Window of My Creativity

How Am I Creative?

(A Writing Prompt, A Window, and an Invitation)

If you were to look through the window of my creativity today, you wouldn’t see a perfectly curated studio or a single, polished art form. You’d see movement — ideas in motion, stories unfolding, and an open door inviting you to step inside.

One of the ways I express creativity today is deceptively simple:
I use writing prompts as doorways.

They aren’t just exercises to me — they’re invitations.
They give me a way to approach ideas from different angles, revisit stories I’ve lived, and introduce new readers to CherryCoBiz without asking them to “catch up” first.

If you’ve been here a while, you may recognize this approach from a previous post, The Journey from Coloring Books to Crafting a Creative Oasis. That piece traced my creative awakening during the early days of the pandemic — a time when survival itself felt like an act of imagination.

Back then, creativity showed up in my hands.
Adult coloring books.
Colored pencils.
Pom-pom rugs.
Keepsake boxes.

I didn’t know what I was doing — and I did it anyway.

That spirit hasn’t changed.
Only the medium has.

Creativity Evolves — It Doesn’t Disappear

Today, creativity lives mostly in my words.

Writing prompts allow me to:
• share updates without sounding like announcements
• process change without drowning in it
• invite humor when things feel heavy
• offer reflection without preaching
• meet readers exactly where they are

They also let me weave together the many threads of CherryCoBiz — wellness, humor, reflection, creativity, loss, rebuilding, and yes… sometimes absolute nonsense.

Because real life is all of that.

If you’ve read Through Loss, Change, and Chaos: What This Year Gave Me, you already know I don’t sugarcoat reality. That post came from a prompt asking about positive events, and I laughed out loud before answering — because creativity sometimes means telling the truth sideways.

And if you’ve seen If I Didn’t Need Sleep: A CherryCoBiz Update, then you’ve witnessed another creative truth: sometimes silence isn’t absence — it’s construction.

CherryCoBiz is actively being maintained, refined, and strengthened behind the scenes. I rehired the same developer who helped last round because he did an excellent job, and once the final fine-tuning is complete, slipping back into a steady writing rhythm will feel much more natural again.

That, too, is creativity — knowing when to build the foundation before decorating the rooms.

Yes — I’m Serious… and Yes — I’m Also Ridiculous

If you’re new here, this is important to know:
I bring the mix.

Some days I’ll walk you through grief, healing, or growth.
Other days, I’ll write about cats conducting unsolicited butt inspections.

If you need proof, explore:

Creativity doesn’t always wear a serious face — sometimes it wears pajamas and laughs at the wrong moment.

And yes, sometimes it turns sharp — satire is also a form of creative resistance. (See: The Noble Piece of Work Awards.)

Why I Do This — And Who It’s For

At the heart of all of this is something simple:

I write for one person.

You.

Writing prompts are the handshake that makes that connection possible — the bridge between my inner world and yours. They give me a starting place, but what matters is where we meet in the middle.

I don’t know why I see the world the way I do — but I know sharing that perspective helps someone feel less alone, less confused, or more understood. If my creativity reaches even one person on the day they need it, then it has done its job.

CherryCoBiz isn’t about perfection.
It’s about honesty, curiosity, humor, and growth — sometimes all in the same paragraph.

So if you’re wondering how I’m creative, the answer is this:

I keep showing up.
I keep telling the truth in new ways.
I keep finding language for change.
And I keep building a space where seriousness and silliness are allowed to coexist.

Thank you for being here — whether you’re laughing, thinking, healing, or just browsing.

Creativity lives in all of it.

With warmth and intention,
Terra

P.S. A Doorway for You:
If you had to describe your current creative season in one word — whether it’s Construction, Rest, Chaos, or Coloring — what would it be?
