I’m excited about the future and proudly looking forward to casting my vote for Harris/Walz 2024. But before anyone rushes to judgment, I want to share a secret that not many people know: I voted for Trump many years ago. I lived in the Fox echo chamber for longer than I care to disclose.
I have strong personal values, and while my current worldview no longer supports the Christian faith, it is still deeply rooted in my soul. I am not okay with the exploitation of good Christian people, people like those in my own family. It pains me to watch someone like Donald Trump mock a faith that means so much to so many. I know every person’s relationship with their beliefs is different, but certain things ring true when it comes to genuine faith and love for God.
When Trump was asked to share his favorite Bible verse, he couldn’t do it. He made excuses, but the only honest answer would have been, “I don’t know, I’ve never read it.” True people of faith can share a favorite verse. Even though I no longer identify as a Christian, I can name favorite verses. One that resonates deeply with me is Hebrews 13:2: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”
There are so many beautiful, thought-provoking verses in the Bible. That question wasn’t even hard, yet Trump dodged it. When asked if he preferred the Old or New Testament, he gave a cliché politician’s response: “Both.” It was a perfect example of someone trying to fake their way through something they don’t truly understand.
It became clear to me that this man was not the leader we needed. Even though he touts “family values,” his actions show otherwise. His wife is practically missing in action while he surrounds himself with people like Laura Loomer—a far-right conspiracy theorist. Where do you think Trump got the idea for that bizarre comment about immigrants eating dogs in Springfield, Ohio? While it may have been laughable on the surface, it’s terrifying to think he could be so close to the White House again.
Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 tells us, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’”
That pretty much sums up how I feel about Trump’s associations. One of his closest allies, Johnny McEntee, even joked about giving fake money to unhoused people, ensuring their arrest. It’s disgusting. How can anyone support a man who surrounds himself with people like this?
And then there was Don Jr. who, several years ago, took to the stage and said something like, “This isn’t their Republican Party anymore.” At the time, I thought it was a whackadoodle thing to say. But as time moved forward, he’s right—he and his family distorted the party. I consider myself a conservative voter, but I refuse to vote Republican again until they distance themselves from Trump and get their act together. And yes, I know who the MAGA Republicans are versus the real Republicans. The public is watching.
I hate when politicians lie and manipulate to gain power. There are good conservative Republicans out there, people who have spoken out against Trump, and it’s shocking to see some of them flip-flop when the opportunity for power comes along. Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, JD Vance, Lindsey Graham—the list goes on. If you know someone is bad, stick to your guns. Don’t make yourself look spineless by selling out.
Let’s not forget Trump’s name-calling—he’s infamous for it. But when he called Kamala Harris “Lyin’ Kamala,” it made me think of her more like Lion Kamala. She’s fierce, and she’ll have him for dinner. (Yes, that’s a dig at Trump’s bizarre Hannibal Lecter comments at his rallies, which seem rooted in his confusion between “asylum seekers” and “mental asylums.” It’s like he doesn’t even know the word has two meanings.)
The bottom line is that Trump destroyed his opportunity in my eyes. He failed us during COVID when we needed real leadership, and he continues to drag us backward with Project 2025—a blueprint for disaster. From rolling back reproductive rights to undoing environmental protections, erasing LGBTQ+ protections, restricting voting rights, and slashing healthcare for millions, this is not the future I want for our country.
And let’s talk about nepotism. I never understood why some people didn’t believe in it. From my perspective, if you’re in a position to help your family, why wouldn’t you? But Trump took nepotism to new levels of corruption. He flooded the White House with loyalists and family members, like Ivanka and Jared Kushner, who were unqualified for their roles but used their positions to enrich themselves. It’s clear they weren’t there to serve the American people, just their own interests.
Then there’s the grifting. I’ll never forget when Trump posed in the Oval Office with Goya beans. It was an absurd abuse of power, turning the presidency into a shill for private businesses. And that’s just one example. He’s also sold NFTs, sneakers, bobbleheads, and more, all while asking for donations from people who can’t afford to send $10, let alone buy his overpriced products.
At the end of the day, Trump and his cronies do not have the best interest of the United States at heart. I don’t know what drives them, but it seems to be money and power. But trust me when I say, I will never support that kind of leadership again. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
I’ve been on this planet for 48 years, and I love my country. I love everything about America—the diversity, the experiences, the values we share. I’ve been blessed to view life through a unique lens, and it’s given me sincere appreciation and love for who we are as a nation. That’s why I am so furious about the nonsense surrounding Trump and those in his orbit. It is this frustration that inspired me to create a video project highlighting the dangers of what Trump represents, especially Project 2025.
My video, which I’ve just completed, captures the absurdity of Trump’s so-called “plans” and the alarming reality of what’s happening behind the scenes. From his failure to lead during COVID to his alignment with Project 2025, this video was my way of processing and sharing my frustration.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope my words, my video, and my experiences resonate with those who feel the same way but haven’t yet found their voice.
