Goodbye X, Hello BlueSky

And then there’s the elephant in the room: my utter loathing of X (formerly Twitter). After Elon Musk’s takeover, X devolved into a breeding ground for misinformation, Russian propaganda, and far-right rhetoric. Thankfully, I never built a strong attachment to the platform, so walking away was an easy decision. Musk’s actions feel like a twofold theft: first, he bought a platform no one asked him to buy, wreaking havoc in the process. Second, he’s used X to amplify disinformation and undermine our democracy. I cannot, in good conscience, support that.

That’s where BlueSky comes in. I wasn’t actively searching for a new social media home, but BlueSky has proven to fill a void that the other platforms simply can’t: a true sense of community and a commitment to decentralized truth-sharing.
