Dear Mr. Trump,
I voted for you once—one too many times. I was a huge fan back then, just like many others who believed in you. I used to quote you for fun, messing around with friends: “You’re fired!” And when you decided to run for president, I thought, “Heck yeah, that’s exactly what Washington needs—change!” I wanted to see changes in our government, even if I couldn’t articulate exactly what they were at the time. I believed you’d be the one to deliver, that you’d do a stellar job for our country. But you didn’t.
You let me down. You let all of us down. While you still have supporters, I have to question how they understand and interpret you because, in my mind, you are nothing more than a liar and a cheat. You are not the leader I hoped for; you are far worse, and frankly, you are terrifying. I was watching a news program recently discussing the so-called “October Surprise.” They had it right—you are the October surprise. You are your own worst enemy. It’s your words and your actions that have shocked the majority of us. The only reason you’re fighting so hard to win is to escape jail time. Otherwise, I think you would have ended this campaign a long time ago. If you win, you get to make it all disappear.
You know, there’s even a book called Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success about you. But perhaps, Mr. Trump, your luck is about to run out.
You are not my protector. You cannot protect something you do not love, and sir, you do not love women. You cannot protect what you do not respect. And please, stop telling everyone that “everyone” wanted Roe v. Wade overturned. Maybe the people you surround yourself with wanted that, but they are so far out of touch with the reality of what people want for their own lives. If you want to care for people, you have to listen to all people, not just your “yes men” or those disturbingly intertwined with the Heritage Foundation. That group is an extreme right-wing think tank pushing Christian Nationalism, a concept that has no place in America.
I understand why some people still support you—I was one of them. I believed in the promise of change and something different. But your track record shows that the change you represent is not in our best interests. It’s dangerous, divisive, and does not serve the American people as a whole.
I’ve already voted this year, and I voted for a leader. I voted for Kamala Harris, and I cannot wait to see her flourish as Madam President of the United States. She will ensure that the voices of the American people are heard through her actions and leadership—something you failed to do. You only want to control and disparage us. Most of us are just done with you. We cannot wait for this election to end so that you can fade into the background.
By the way, you are incredibly rude. I have never seen a president refuse to concede an election, and I have never seen anyone your age act like such a sore loser. It’s been four years, and you still haven’t shut up about it. We are tired of hearing the same nonsense on repeat. No joke! Even if we accept that you were genuinely concerned about the integrity of the election, after over 60 court cases found no evidence of fraud, you should have accepted it. Instead, you became the real threat to our democracy.
Your behavior is deplorable. For the son of an immigrant to claim that others are “poisoning the blood” of America is disgusting. I wouldn’t be here without immigration, either; it’s a necessary evolution. I am part Native American and mixed race, and I value learning about my heritage and the cultures of my people. But for you, it’s racially motivated. It’s as if the “brown ones” are the problem, but because you come from “white ones,” that’s acceptable. It’s hypocrisy at its finest. And even your wife is an immigrant—do you hear how ridiculous you sound? Sorry, but it’s true.
You are just a MAGA disappointment. I am appalled that I ever supported you. I cannot wait for this nightmare to end so that true, loving, patriotic Americans can move on from the stain you’ve left on our country. We have so much work to do in healing the divisions you’ve deepened, but I’m hopeful for our future and the restoration of our democracy.
As I turn this page, I’m preparing to write my next letter—to Vice President Kamala Harris. It’s time for new leadership, and I’m ready to support someone who can bring true change to America.
Sincerely,
A Former Supporter
