As we approach another critical election, it’s time for me to share why I’ve come to the decision that I can no longer support Donald Trump. This isn’t about partisanship—it’s about values, truth, and the future of our country. In this post, I will address feedback received on my earlier thoughts and elaborate on further reasons that have informed my decision beyond just Project 2025.
Addressing the Feedback: Project 2025 and Trump’s Denial
Many of the comments I received pointed out that Trump claims to know nothing about Project 2025, distancing himself from the initiative. While some might argue this is true, the facts show that Trump’s name appears over 300 times in verified documents associated with Project 2025. His attempt to disassociate himself from this initiative seems politically motivated, aimed at appeasing a broader voting base. But it’s not just Project 2025—there are other, deeper issues that have driven me to reassess my stance.
Understanding Where We Are: Trump and the GOP’s Family Values
The Republican Party has long touted itself as the “Party of Family Values,” promoting traditional morals, faith, and integrity. But when you look at the man leading the charge, there’s a clear disconnect between the values the GOP claims to represent and the actions of Donald Trump. This isn’t just about political rhetoric—it’s about whether the leader of our country truly embodies these values.
Trump’s Contradictions
Despite positioning himself as a defender of family values, Trump’s history of scandals tells a different story. From the Stormy Daniels affair to multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, his personal behavior has repeatedly contradicted the ideals the GOP claims to stand for. The hush money payments during his campaign and his unethical conduct in business and personal dealings have only reinforced his disregard for honesty and integrity.
Adding to the concerns is the ongoing controversy surrounding Trump’s alleged acceptance of a $10 million bribe from Egypt. Days before his inauguration, Egypt’s intelligence service reportedly withdrew the cash, raising suspicions about Trump’s relationship with Egypt’s President Abdelfattah al-Sisi. Congressman Jamie Raskin and House Democrats are calling for an investigation, but Trump’s administration, particularly Attorney General Bill Barr, dismissed the inquiry. This smells like corruption, and Trump’s continued deflection only adds to the suspicion.
Yet, despite these well-documented scandals, many in the Republican base still stand by Trump. This isn’t about holding onto conservative ideals; it’s about political loyalty. The question is, how much longer can we overlook these contradictions for the sake of maintaining party loyalty? Are we sacrificing our principles by allowing this behavior to continue unchecked?
Loyalty Over Morality?
I have family members who still believe that Trump is for the people. They hold onto the belief that he represents their interests, and while I may not share their perspective, I deeply respect their right to choose the candidate who they feel best represents them. It’s important to acknowledge that we all come to different conclusions based on our experiences, values, and priorities. But as much as I respect their views, I have to be clear: Trump’s character is not aligned with the kind of leadership I believe America needs.
He’s had his time in office, and he was voted out once already—America made her decision, and his leadership is no longer what we need. I don’t see a welcome sign on the White House for him this term, and I believe we should be looking forward, not back.
I love and adore my family members who still support Trump, with all my heart and soul. I appreciate that we can have these differences and still respect each other deeply. My decision to voice my reasons for not supporting Trump comes from a place of sincerity, not division. I feel compelled to speak out because I believe in doing what is best for the collective good. If I didn’t feel so strongly, I wouldn’t be writing about politics at all. My platform may be small, but I intend to use it with integrity and purpose behind everything I do.
Before you dismiss this as partisan mudslinging, I encourage you to do your own research. Watch the clips, read the articles, and connect the dots for yourself. We deserve leaders who care about us, not ones who use lies and fear to manipulate the public.
The Rise of Extremism: The Laura Loomer Influence
Another concerning development is Trump’s growing alignment with far-right figures like Laura Loomer, whose extreme views are gaining influence over Trump’s campaign. Despite her Islamophobic and inflammatory rhetoric, Loomer has found a place in Trump’s orbit. Recently, Loomer boasted about possibly being the instigator of Trump’s racist comments about Haitians during a debate viewed by over 67 million people. This isn’t just rhetoric—it’s a dangerous tool used to stir up division and hatred. Loomer’s pride in her role highlights the malicious intent behind this narrative, and the damage goes far beyond the debate stage.
A Symptom of Trumpism
Loomer is the embodiment of Trumpism’s darkest tendencies, amplifying fear, division, and conspiracy. When Trump echoes her baseless claims—like the outrageous story that Haitian immigrants are eating pets—it becomes clear that this influence is not benign. This rhetoric isn’t just divisive; it’s dangerous, leading to real-world consequences like bomb threats and panic in small communities.
Even more troubling is the role of people like J.D. Vance, who admitted to fabricating claims to the media about Haitian immigrants, further fueling harmful stereotypes. Figures like Vance and Loomer illustrate how right-wing extremists manipulate public sentiment, using lies to deepen societal divides. This behavior is not only unethical but directly impacts millions of lives by spreading fear and misinformation.
Political Violence: Normalizing the Unthinkable
We also can’t ignore how Trump and his circle continue to downplay and, at times, even mock political violence. One disturbing example is Donald Trump Jr.’s response to the brutal attack on Paul Pelosi, husband of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Rather than condemning the violence, Trump Jr. posted a meme making light of the assault. It’s bad enough when one influential figure behaves this way, but his father, Donald Trump, took it a step further, mocking Paul Pelosi during a campaign event.
At a California Republican Party convention in Anaheim, Trump asked the crowd, “How’s her husband doing, anybody know?” in a tone that elicited laughter from the audience. He further ridiculed Nancy Pelosi by criticizing the wall around her home, saying, “which obviously didn’t do a very good job,” referring to the attack. This wasn’t a mere offhand remark—Trump had previously entertained far-right conspiracy theories about the event, contributing to the dangerous normalization of violent rhetoric.
When an 82-year-old man suffers a fractured skull in a hammer attack, and the response from Trump and his camp is to mock or joke about the incident, it reveals a much deeper problem. This kind of rhetoric desensitizes people to real violence, making it easier to dismiss or even justify harm against political opponents. The bad apples truly don’t fall far from the tree—both Trump Jr. and his father have shown that they’re willing to mock real suffering for political points.
Such behavior has no place in a functioning democracy. Leadership should promote peace, unity, and constructive discourse, not encourage division and violence. When political leaders dismiss, mock, or stoke violence, they’re playing a dangerous game, one that has real-world consequences for both individuals and the health of our democratic society.
The Haitian Rumor: Trump, Vance, and Real-World Harm
One of the most disturbing recent developments is the baseless claim by Trump during a debate that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating people’s pets. Trump’s comment, which was watched by millions, has led to significant fallout in Springfield, including bomb threats that have forced schools, hospitals, and a college to go into lockdown. Local officials, including the Republican mayor of Springfield, Rob Russo, have condemned these falsehoods, stating that “All these federal politicians that have negatively spun our city, they need to know they’re hurting our city.”
It was J.D. Vance who first elevated this baseless rumor, further spreading a harmful narrative that has left the city dealing with Proud Boys marches, public safety concerns, and increasing division. Despite overwhelming evidence refuting these claims, Vance and Trump continue to spread misinformation that harms communities. In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Vance tried to justify his actions by claiming that he was merely responding to concerns from his constituents, but even the state’s Republican governor and local authorities have confirmed that these claims are entirely unfounded.
This rhetoric has real consequences. It is not only a distraction from real policy discussions but also a tool for creating fear and division, leading to threats, violence, and unrest.
Violent Rhetoric from the Right: Why Mark Robinson’s Words Matter
The violent rhetoric coming from certain political figures, particularly on the far right, has reached an alarming level. One such example is North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, whose recent comments, delivered in a church setting no less, exemplify how dangerous and inflammatory language can be.
In a speech given on June 30, 2024, Robinson stated, “Some folks need killing. It’s time for somebody to say it.” He went on to justify violence by referencing historical events, such as World War II, where he praised the U.S. for its role in “killing” evil forces. While historical wartime actions can be understood in context, using this rhetoric to justify or suggest violence in today’s political climate is deeply concerning. Such language serves to dehumanize and promote harm toward those deemed “wicked” or simply in opposition to his views.
This is not the first instance where Robinson has stirred controversy with his inflammatory comments, but it is one of the most explicit examples of how violent rhetoric is becoming normalized in certain political circles. His message, while cloaked in religious fervor, crosses a dangerous line—particularly when public officials, who hold positions of power and influence, begin to suggest that violence is a solution to political or moral disagreements.
The Controversy Around Mark Robinson’s Extremism
The controversy surrounding Mark Robinson’s alleged posts on a pornographic website, in which he reportedly praised Adolf Hitler, disparaged Martin Luther King Jr., and defended slavery, is a significant concern for several reasons:
- Hypocrisy and Accountability: Robinson has built his political career as a socially conservative figure. His denial of these posts contrasts with the detailed evidence connecting them to him, raising questions about integrity and transparency.
- Political and Social Consequences: Robinson’s extremist rhetoric, if proven true, directly conflicts with the values of equality and justice. As a gubernatorial candidate, his views have potential ramifications for policy decisions affecting civil rights, education, and social welfare.
- Harmful Rhetoric: The nature of these statements perpetuates racism, sexism, and divisive ideologies. When public figures espouse such views, even indirectly, it can embolden others to engage in harmful behavior, undermining the progress made in civil rights and promoting toxic political discourse.
- Public Trust: For any elected official, but particularly one aiming for high office, public trust is essential. When allegations like these surface, they threaten not only the individual’s campaign but also the broader public’s faith in democratic institutions.
Clarence Thomas and Ginni Thomas: The Ethical Quandary
Another issue we must address is the growing concern around Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife, Ginni Thomas. Ginni Thomas has been a vocal supporter of far-right conspiracy theories, particularly surrounding the 2020 election. Leaked audio and other revelations show that Ginni Thomas has been actively involved in efforts to “protect” the judiciary from reforms, raising serious ethical concerns about how far her influence over her husband might extend.
Moreover, Justice Thomas has faced scrutiny for accepting luxury trips and other benefits from wealthy benefactors like real estate mogul Harlan Crow. These relationships compromise the integrity of the Court and erode public trust in our judicial system, which is meant to be impartial and free from political influence. The fact that Clarence Thomas failed to disclose these gifts, including lavish vacations and financial arrangements benefiting his family, has led to widespread calls for a Supreme Court ethics reform.
This controversy isn’t just about transparency; it’s about the very foundation of trust in our legal system. A justice of the Supreme Court must be beyond reproach, and the entanglement of personal and political interests with judicial responsibilities undermines the court’s credibility. The ongoing scandals surrounding Thomas and other justices, like Samuel Alito’s travel arrangements and relationships with donors, have further deepened concerns.
In fact, President Biden has recently endorsed the imposition of a binding code of ethics for the Supreme Court, a move long overdue considering the repeated controversies. The need for accountability within the highest court is now more evident than ever, especially with revelations of justices being influenced by political activism, wealth, and personal alliances.
And don’t get me started on the recent headlines: “Supreme Court Ethics Controversies: All The Scandals That Led Biden To Endorse Code Of Conduct,” which detailed the numerous unethical behaviors of Supreme Court justices. From Justice Alito’s undisclosed trips to Ginni Thomas’s activism and Clarence Thomas’s deep ties with influential conservative donors, the very fabric of trust in the judiciary is fraying. These revelations should alarm anyone who cares about the rule of law.
Corruption and Consolidation of Power: Project 2025
A prime example of this power grab is Project 2025, an initiative Trump is closely tied to, despite his attempts to distance himself from it. Spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, Project 2025 seeks to radically restructure the federal government by consolidating unprecedented power within the presidency. This plan includes dismantling much of the non-partisan, career civil service and replacing it with political loyalists who would answer directly to the president. The authoritarian tendencies we’ve seen in Trump’s past behavior are fully aligned with this strategy.
What’s important to note is that Project 2025 isn’t happening in a vacuum—this push for consolidating presidential power has its roots in the Heritage Foundation’s influence, which dates back to the Reagan administration. In the 1980s, the Heritage Foundation played a pivotal role in shaping Reagan’s conservative agenda through its Mandate for Leadership, a comprehensive policy guide that helped Reagan systematically weaken federal regulations, cut taxes, and reduce government oversight. That document became a blueprint for conservative governance and solidified the Heritage Foundation’s role in driving policy for future Republican administrations.
Fast forward to Project 2025, and we see a continuation of that same conservative transition strategy—but this time, it’s far more extreme. The project advocates for a fundamental overhaul of federal agencies, replacing non-partisan civil servants with political appointees loyal to the president. It’s an evolution of the same tactics used by the Reagan administration, but taken to a new level, where loyalty to the executive outweighs experience or competency in governance. The goal? A centralized power structure that can bypass checks and balances, shifting the power dynamics in favor of the presidency, similar to what was seen under Reagan, but with even fewer barriers to executive overreach.
Supporters of Trump argue that Project 2025 has nothing to do with him, despite his name being mentioned over 300 times in verified documents tied to the project. They claim the real vision is laid out in Trump’s “Agenda 47,” not Project 2025. However, this narrative is misleading. While Agenda 47 may seem distinct, it essentially overlaps with many of the same goals outlined in Project 2025: a fundamental overhaul of federal agencies, the removal of career civil servants, and the installation of political loyalists in key roles. Both documents promote a consolidation of power that is alarming in its scope and ambition.
Trump’s attempts to distance himself from Project 2025 are likely a reaction to its unpopularity among a broad swath of voters. Unlike many of his more boastful projects, Trump remains silent on this one because the public is waking up to its dangerous implications. The truth is convoluted, and while some are desperate to believe whatever Trump is selling, others recognize that this plan represents a deeply concerning authoritarian shift in governance.
Let’s be real—if Project 2025 were popular, Trump would be bragging about it, just as he did with his other initiatives. The fact that he’s now attempting to downplay his involvement should be a red flag for everyone. Jasmine Crockett’s recent revelation, during a congressional hearing, confirmed that Trump’s name appears over 300 times in connection with this project, underscoring the reality of his deep involvement. This is not some random initiative detached from Trump’s agenda—it’s his blueprint for a total consolidation of power. The fact that Trump wants to sidestep responsibility only underscores how deeply unpopular and dangerous Project 2025 truly is.
While the entire Project 2025 document is accessible online, the fourth pillar of the project—a 180-day Transition Playbook—has yet to be released. Why do you think they are withholding this information? It’s because the plans laid out in that transition playbook will not go over well with the majority of Americans. This secrecy and reluctance to disclose critical aspects of the project should be a major warning sign. If it wasn’t so alarming, there would be no reason to hide it.
By failing to release the full details of Project 2025, especially the transition playbook, Trump’s camp is clearly signaling that this initiative isn’t meant for public scrutiny. This lack of transparency is designed to deceive the public, keeping the most radical elements of the project under wraps. But rest assured, these political maneuvers are deliberate and calculated, just as Trump’s entire political career has been.
The Heritage Foundation’s role in this cannot be overlooked. It’s not just about Trump; it’s about a conservative think tank that has long sought to shift the balance of power toward the executive branch, away from democratic institutions, and ultimately away from the people. Project 2025 is simply the latest chapter in a decades-long playbook that began under Reagan—and this time, the stakes are higher than ever.
Employee Groups Laud Biden’s Anti-Schedule F Regulations
In response to the potential threat of these authoritarian moves, the Biden administration has taken steps to protect the federal workforce from initiatives like Schedule F, a Trump-era executive order that sought to strip civil servants of their due process protections. This order aimed to convert career federal employees into at-will employees, making them vulnerable to politically motivated firings.
Unions and federal employee groups have praised the Biden administration’s efforts to insulate the workforce from such partisan abuses. The new regulations ensure that any employee moved out of the competitive service retains their civil service protections, providing an appeals process to safeguard against politically motivated removals.
This safeguard is essential to maintaining a nonpartisan civil service, which is the backbone of a functioning and stable government. Allowing political loyalty to dictate federal employment would undermine the very tenet of our democracy, leading to chaos and corruption in government services.
A Call for Research and Reflection
Before you dismiss this as just another political opinion, I encourage you to do your own research. I’ve mentioned this earlier, and I’ll say it again because it’s vital: Watch the clips, read the articles, and connect the dots. There are serious issues at play here, and none of us should be wearing blinders. I’m not here to tell you how to vote—that’s your choice—but I hope this reflection gives you something to think about as we head into another election season.
To make this easier, I’ll list all of my resources at the end of this post for you to review at your convenience. It’s important to stay informed, and I encourage you to read the documents, listen to the speeches, and verify the facts for yourself. Your perspective matters, and it should be shaped by truth and understanding.
We deserve leaders who care about us and tell us the truth—not those who use fear and lies to manipulate us. That’s why, for me, it’s Harris-Walz 2024. I’m just an average person, like most of you, trying to navigate this political landscape, but I believe we have the opportunity to make a better choice for our futures.
