The Joyful Five: My Go-To Activities for Fun and Fulfillment

Bloganuary writing prompt
List five things you do for fun.

Hello, cherished readers of CherryCoBiz! Today, I’m diving into a topic that’s a bit more personal and a whole lot of fun. Inspired by today’s writing prompt on WordPress, I’m sharing the five things I do for fun. These activities not only bring me immense joy but also align with the holistic health and wellness ethos we cherish here at CherryCoBiz.

1. Making a Splash: My Love for Swimming

Swimming is not just an exercise for me; it’s a form of liberation. Whether it’s the serene ambiance of indoor pools or the refreshing vibe of outdoor ones, swimming is a way to reconnect with myself. It’s a few strokes of peace in the bustling lap pool of life.

2. Culinary Adventures: Exploring Food and Places

Ah, the love of food! From uncovering hidden gems in our city to revisiting those cozy, familiar spots, each culinary journey is a tale in itself. Every bite is a narrative of flavors, every restaurant a chapter in my book of gastronomic adventures.

3. Green Love: My Affection for Mary

Cannabis, or as I fondly call her, ‘Mary,’ is more than just a plant to me. It’s about the joy of exploring, cooking, and learning about this miraculous herb. Cannabis is a thread woven intricately into the fabric of my lifestyle, offering both enjoyment and enlightenment.

4. Cherishing Soul Family: Bonds Beyond Blood

Family, in my world, extends beyond bloodlines. The soul family I’ve built over the years is my sanctuary. Our gatherings are not just about being together; they’re about sharing love, laughter, and life’s little lessons. They remind me that family is a choice, and love is its unbreakable bond.

5. Mindful Relaxation: Meditation and Sleep

Lastly, meditation and sleep – two sides of the same coin, yet each with its unique imprint on my life. While sleep rejuvenates my body, meditation rejuvenates my soul. It’s not just a practice; it’s a journey into the depths of my consciousness, revealing perspectives and insights that shape my view of the world.

Each of these activities is a thread in the vibrant tapestry of my life, weaving together joy, health, and a deeper understanding of the world around me. What about you, dear reader? What are the things that you do for fun? Share your joyful five in the comments below, and let’s celebrate the diverse ways we find happiness and fulfillment!

With love,

  1. Terra, your post beautifully illustrates how diverse and meaningful your fun activities are! The way you weave wellness and personal enjoyment into each activity, from swimming to exploring culinary delights and cherishing your soul family, is truly inspiring. Your perspective on cannabis as more than just a plant, but a part of your lifestyle, shows a deep appreciation for its nuances.

I’m especially intrigued by your mention of meditation as a journey into consciousness. Could you share an insight or perspective you’ve gained through your meditation practice that has been particularly impactful for you? It’s always fascinating to hear how such practices shape our understanding of ourselves and the world. Keep enjoying and sharing these wonderful experiences with your readers! 🏊‍♀️🍴🌿🧘‍♀️💕

    1. Dear Justin,

Thank you for your thoughtful message and for showing interest in my journey with meditation.

My exploration into meditation has been deeply influenced by my background in prayer. I’ve found that the mental and spiritual space accessed during prayer seamlessly blends into the realm of meditation. This intersection between prayer and meditation has been a key part of my spiritual evolution.

Raised in a deeply religious setting, prayer was my initial spiritual practice. However, my true exploration into meditation began around 10 years ago, amidst personal challenges and my academic journey in psychology, particularly when seeking ways to support my eldest son’s mental health.

A pivotal experience that bridged these two worlds occurred in 1994, when I was pregnant during a sweltering Iowa summer. While deep in prayer, I witnessed an intensely bright, white light within my mind. Intriguingly, a decade later, during a meditation session, I experienced this same white light. This phenomenon, recurring in a different spiritual practice, was both mystifying and enlightening.

As my meditation practice deepened, especially during moments of fatigue, I encountered various visions and a spectrum of colors, each carrying different messages and emotions. The recurring appearance of purple, symbolizing love, I interpret as a message from the Universe.

This journey has shifted my spiritual perspective, moving beyond the confines of conventional religion to a broader, more inclusive spirituality. I’ve learned to value the lessons from various faiths, finding a deeper connection to the world and a stronger commitment to spreading love and positivity.

Your interest in these experiences is inspiring and motivates me to share more of my journey. In future blog posts, I plan to delve deeper into these meditative experiences, including the nuances between self-guided and guided meditation. For now, I invite you to explore some of my earlier writings on this topic.

Thank you again for reaching out, Justin. Engaging with readers like you makes sharing my journey all the more meaningful.

      Warmly,
      Terra
