Open Letter to Karoline Leavitt
Dear Karoline,
I’ve seen To Die For. I know Suzanne Stone isn’t real — but watching you, I’m starting to wonder. For those unfamiliar, To Die For (1995) is a dark comedy where Nicole Kidman plays a woman so obsessed with being on TV that she’ll stop at nothing — morals and humanity be damned — to get there.
And now, thanks to Lisandra Vazquez, we have the Cross of the Day series — a rotating display of props in her satirical skits impersonating you. For those new to her work, Lisandra is a stand-up comedian from San Juan, Puerto Rico, now based in Atlanta. Her political satire doesn’t mock faith — it spotlights the performance.
In these skits, the cross is a recurring prop: sometimes simple, sometimes absurd, sometimes made from snacks. One viewer even joked the “real” cross vanished from your neck after these videos started making the rounds. Whether coincidence or divine comedy, the timing is… immaculate.
This works because it’s rooted in truth. We’ve seen the clips: Kaitlan Collins asks a pointed question — “Did President Trump’s comments undermine DNI Tulsi Gabbard?” — and instead of answering, you snap back, refuse a follow-up, and move on like it never happened. That’s the act Lisandra captures so well: the polished deflection, framed with a camera-ready smile and whatever cross the day brings.
Karoline, here’s the thing — most people wearing the cross carry something deeper with it: empathy, kindness, humility, honesty. You’ve turned it into an accessory, not a reflection. That’s the hypocrisy being called out. If you truly believe in a Christian God, then you’re missing the point of your own faith. Lisandra’s satire isn’t mean-spirited — it’s a mirror. You just don’t like what’s staring back.
You’ve positioned yourself for criticism even if you were the most principled person in the room. That’s the nature of the beast you chose to tame. But instead of using humility as your shield, you’ve fed the beast with arrogance — and it’s still hungry.
From where I sit, the White House has become a circus tent. The characters are the most ridiculous the world has ever seen. Trump is still TACO — Trump Always Chickens Out — but also TUNA: Trump Usually Negates Accountability. And his base? They let him.
So here’s my wink to the audience: Karoline, you’re Suzanne Stone with a bigger cross collection. This isn’t a movie. The stakes are real. The lines aren’t scripted. And the punchline? We’re all living in a parody, whether we bought a ticket or not.
Trade the prop for humility, Karoline. Otherwise, the comedians will keep you in the spotlight — and you’ll keep losing the laugh to someone funnier.
— A viewer who’s seen enough of the show
