A grid of hand-painted watercolor squares in various colors—red, yellow, green, blue, and purple—sits against a black background. Overlaid are staggered black blocks with soft yellow text that reads: “Maybe the square is a mirror. Maybe it’s a doorway.” The design evokes themes of structure, introspection, and hidden meaning.

The Message in the Square: A Vision of Grounding and Change

There are nights when meditation feels like a slow unraveling, a gentle release into something deeper. And then there are nights like the one I had recently—when something rushes in faster than usual, as though the universe is eager to show you something it’s been holding back.

I slipped into a deep meditation much quicker than normal. Typically, it takes me 20 minutes or more to truly relax into that place—what I often call “the zone,” where swirling colors give way to a velvety blackness, like space folding in on itself. But this time, within the first 10 minutes, I felt that familiar dark stillness settle around me, and I knew I was there.

Then came the vision.

At first, I saw what looked like a ceiling fan or exhaust fan—but it wasn’t moving air. It was square in shape, with smaller repeating squares layered within it, each shape receding toward the center like a tunnel or mandala. The geometric precision of it struck me. It didn’t feel random—it felt constructed, intentional.

As the image started to fade, it suddenly returned—but different. The outer square held its form, but the inner squares began to shift and distort. No longer uniform, they twisted ever so slightly, like the pattern was being tugged in directions it wasn’t meant to go. It was as if the vision itself was asking me to reconsider what I was seeing. Maybe the object wasn’t the message. Maybe the message was the square.

What struck me most is how different this felt. In past meditations, I’ve often seen spheres—symbols of unity, fluidity, and cosmic wholeness. This time, I was shown a structure. Something angular. Something with form and boundary. The experience felt more grounded, more deliberate. It didn’t float—it held.

Since that night, I’ve been reflecting on the deeper meanings behind this shape. Across traditions, the square holds powerful symbolism:

  • Stability and Strength: With its four equal sides and corners, the square represents groundedness and endurance.
  • Community and Equality: Town squares and architecture often rely on this form to symbolize connection and shared space.
  • Divinity and Sacred Geometry: In many spiritual systems, the square is divine order made visible—representing the four elements, four directions, and the foundation of the material world.
  • Structure and Integration: While the circle represents infinity, the square offers definition, orientation, and completion.

It’s curious to me that just as I’m working to rebuild foundations in my own life—my home, my work, my platform—this vision showed up. It happened fast, it happened clearly, and it left an impression. The speed with which I entered meditation makes me wonder if I was meant to receive this at just the right moment. A sliver of insight, a sacred nudge.

So now, I ask you, dear reader:
What structures have you accepted without question?
What patterns repeat in your life, and which ones are starting to bend, twist, or break apart?

Maybe the square is a mirror. Maybe it’s a doorway.
Maybe it’s simply asking me to look deeper.
Whatever it is… I saw it. And now, I carry it.
