A bright yellow flower blooms through a crack in a concrete sidewalk next to a bold yellow painted line. The words ‘Bloom anyway.’ appear in elegant, handwritten script on the left side of the image, symbolizing resilience and hope.

Freedom: The Space to Bloom

Daily writing prompt
What does freedom mean to you?

I’ve often wondered—what does it really mean to be free?

If you look to the natural world, freedom is everywhere. No one tells the trees how tall they should grow or commands the butterflies when to become or what colors to wear. They just are. They simply… happen. And in that happening, they become something beautiful, something whole. That, to me, is the essence of freedom—the ability to grow, to become, to exist in harmony with what calls to your soul.

But if I’m being completely honest, I didn’t always understand freedom this way. In my youth, freedom looked a lot like recklessness. I lived fast and wild, driven by a chilling prophecy delivered when I was just 13 years old—a psychic told me I wouldn’t live past 36. Imagine carrying that weight before you’ve even fully lived. I chased the edge of everything, convinced that if my time was limited, I might as well burn brightly before I burned out.

And yet, here I am—thirteen years past that predicted end.

What pulled me back from the brink wasn’t some dramatic revelation—it was something quieter, but far more powerful. Love. Love for my son, who I had to live long enough to see turn 18. Love for the family I hadn’t even met yet but somehow knew was waiting down the road. And somewhere along that path—through the darkest nights and the wildest storms—I discovered that real freedom wasn’t found in reckless abandon.

It was found in choosing to stay. To fight through sleepless nights and silent prayers. To rebuild my life not all at once, but one small, stubborn decision at a time—choosing sobriety, choosing hope, choosing to believe that there could be more beyond the chaos.

That’s the kind of freedom I celebrate today—the freedom to bloom, even after seasons of hardship. To create a life that honors both the wild parts of me and the wise parts that have grown from my struggles.

Astrology entertains my soul and often offers these uncanny reflections of my journey. My Capricorn Sun speaks to the discipline I had to learn—the patience and resilience it takes to rebuild from the ground up. My Sagittarius Moon carries the restless spirit that kept me searching for meaning beyond my circumstances. And my Aquarius Rising? That’s the rebel in me, the part that refuses to follow the crowd, always seeking my own path and daring to believe in something better.

And that’s exactly what I pour into CherryCoBiz. It’s not just a business concept anymore—it’s a living, breathing testament to the belief that no matter where you’ve been, you have the right to heal, to grow, and to live fully. Whether I’m sharing a recipe that nourishes more than just the body, offering a wellness tip that sparks self-care, or diving into a soulful conversation about the stars, every part of it is designed to help others find their own freedom to bloom.

Freedom has taught me the value of discipline—not the harsh, imposed kind, but the kind that springs from self-love. Because true freedom isn’t chaos; it’s the space to grow strong roots and reach for the sun, on your own terms.

Without freedom—real freedom—I might never have survived. I might never have bloomed. And that, dear friend, makes all the difference.

And if there’s one thing I know now, it’s that every bloom has a story. Some come easy, others fight through storms—but every single one matters.

Have you had to fight for your freedom to bloom? I’d love to hear your story.
