Every Moment Matters: Reflections from My Brief Yet Profound Journey

Dear Cherished CherryCoBiz Community,

As I sit down to write this, my heart is filled with both joy and a touch of sadness. Just last Thursday, I concluded a six-week assignment with a local non-profit dedicated to supporting the homeless in Springfield, MO. This experience, though brief, has profoundly touched my heart and reshaped my understanding of what it means to truly serve and connect with others.

A Bittersweet Farewell

Leaving the non-profit was bittersweet. I fell in love—not just with the work, but with the people: those making a difference and those who are yearning for that difference. As I walked away, I carried with me not just memories, but a burning question: How can I continue to serve effectively? While I might not have all the answers yet, I am committed to exploring how best to support our local community, a commitment that mirrors the very essence of what CherryCoBiz stands for.

A Wish to Do More

If only wishes were currencies, I would wish for the means to boost donations, both financial and in-kind, to support the incredible work being done. The needs are many, and often, they are simple—yet so impactful. This experience has intensified my desire to make a difference, not only in our sector but in the broader community sphere.

CherryCoBiz: A Cooperative Vision

This journey has reaffirmed the vision behind CherryCoBiz: to be a cooperative platform that not only educates but actively participates in bettering our communities. It’s about leveraging collective power to foster change and growth. As we approach our first anniversary in July, I am reminded of the power of community—the minor successes marked by your engagement and support, which fuel our mission.

Supporting Our Drivers and Beyond

Our focus extends beyond just our local efforts. With CherryCoBiz, I’ve also dedicated time to supporting our vital truck drivers, who play a crucial role in driving our economy. Providing them with knowledge and insight is not just a service; it’s our commitment to empowering each individual with the tools they need for better health and wellness.

It Takes a Village

The African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” resonates deeply with my recent experiences. It reminds us that community involvement is crucial, not just in raising children but in nurturing the collective well-being of all community members. This proverb, though its exact origins might be unclear, beautifully captures the spirit of communal support and shared responsibility that is so essential to our work.

Looking Forward

As we move forward, I am eager to translate these reflections into actionable steps that can enrich our collective journey. I am only one person, but together, we are a formidable force capable of fostering significant change.

Let’s continue to support each other, share wisdom, and grow—not just for our own health and wellness but for that of our entire community. Your thoughts, your participation, and your spirit are what make CherryCoBiz a beacon of hope and progress.

With all my gratitude and boundless optimism,

Terra Turner
